24V to 12V Durite voltage converter. The 0-578-10 can be connected in parallel with up to 2 other identical voltage converters to increase output, allow for a 10% reduction in maximum output when paralleled.

  • 24 to 12 Volts DC converter.
  • 10A continuous use.
  • 15A intermittent load.
  • 'Switch mode' isolated return.
  • For most applications, including heavy-duty communications.
  • Features silicon encapsulated components.
  • Approved to: 72-245-EEC as amended by 95-94-EC.

Dimensions

  • Length: 150mm.
  • Width: 85mm.
  • Height: 38mm.

Instructions For Use

  • For use on 24-volt vehicles and used to supply accessories designed for use on 12-volt vehicles. Suitable for radio, TV and any application within the rating of the unit, which does NOT affect the control or safety of the vehicle. Maximum continuous current loading 10 amps.
  • The output of this unit is fully isolated from the input and can be used on vehicles with isolated return or chassis return systems. This converter is a 'switched mode' type converting DC to AC to DC to achieve the input/output isolation, and filter circuits prevent electro-magnetic interference from being transmitted. The output can be connected in parallel with up to two other converters of the same type and rating, with a 10% reduction in output current.
  • The metal case is fully isolated from the working parts and should be grounded to the vehicle metalwork; a small area of the anodised finish may be removed around a fixing hole to facilitate this. A competent auto electrician should carry out the installation.

Specifications

  • Input: Nominal 24 volts (23-32 volts)
  • Output: Nominal 12 volts (approximately half the input voltage)
  • Current: Maximum continuous current of 10 Amps.

Warning! Sustained overload or overheating will result in the automatic shutdown of the electronic circuit. The overload must be removed to restore normal operation.

Mounting

  • This unit may be mounted in any position subject to unrestricted free-air ventilation.
  • The cooling of the unit will be aided by mounting in contact with the metal structure of the vehicle.
  • Do NOT fit near heat sources such as exhaust or heater pipes.
  • Do NOT fit near heat-sensitive material or components such as other electronic units, wiring or plastic parts, as the unit may reach temperatures of up to 75°C.

Connections

Additional wiring should be 44/0.30 mm conductor cable or larger for runs over one and a half metres.

  • Black: Input 24 volts negative (-)
  • Red: Input 24 volts positive (+) (via a 10 amp continuous fuse)
  • Green: Output 12 volts negative (-)
  • Blue: Output 12 volts positive (+)

Finally, double-check that the connections are correct. Incorrect connections can destroy the unit. Do NOT fit higher-rated fuses.
