Fitting Instructions for Translation

1. Ensure the system has cooled down before starting work to avoid scalds and burns.
2. Choose a suitable location for the gauge with adequate access to the rear of the gauge for connections and fixings.
3. Cut a 53 mm diameter hole at the chosen location for the gauge. Cut a hole in the bulkhead to allow the temperature bulb, union and tube to pass through into the engine compartment, and fit a suitable grommet to protect the tube. Push the gauge into the 53mm hole and fit the “U” bracket over the mounting studs at the rear of the gauge. Fit washer(s) and nut to each stud. Align gauge and tighten nuts.
4. Fit the sender unit to the engine system. Carefully route the tube from gauge to sender, avoid hot exhaust surfaces and sharp edges, and ensure that the tube is not kinked or bent through sharp angles.
5. Fit appropriate voltage bulb. Connect the bulb wiring, red wire to the vehicle panel lamp supply (after the fuse) and black wire to earth.
6. Check all connections are correct and secure. Start the engine and check that the gauge registers. Switch on the panel lamps and check that the gauge illuminates.
7. DO NOT bend the capillary tube through sharp angles.
8. DO fit a grommet to protect the capillary tube.
9. DO route the capillary tube to avoid hot surfaces and sharp edges.
10. DO check for leaks at all joints.
