About The 16 Amps Red Continental Fuse

Durite red 16A torpedo or bullet-style Continental fuses. The 16A fuses are for use on 12V and 24V DC electrical systems for a continuous (always on) application. The fuse has a festoon-style fitting and is available with a fusebox holder and carrier (0-234-00) options.

One of the oldest fuse solutions still used on-road vehicles and classic cars, the yellow festoon-shaped fuse offers 16 Amps continuous circuit load protection and a 32 Amps blow rating. At Arc Components Ltd, we offer Continental blade fuses in four different amperages, ranging from 5A to 25A, with a 32Vdc maximum rating.

Fuse Ratings

Continuous ratings for fuses are based on the fact they should blow at the amperage when the circuit is always-on or plugged in. The blow ratings for fuses are based on the fact that the circuit is intermittent; therefore, the fuse is required to heat up before blowing.

Not supplied as advertised, the body is plastic not ceramic.

Response:

Hello Peter,
You are correct and the text has been corrected.
It is worth noting; that it was a recent manufacturing decision for the brand and manufacturer to switch from the ceramic to the thermoplastic housing, with a quoted "no drop in performance".
We had already removed the ceramic referencing throughout this range of fuses, but one reference of it did remain in the Attributes section. For that, we do apologise and it has been corrected, it was not our intention to deceive.
